About The Teacher,
Jon Zax

Photography has been a central and defining force in Jon’s life ever since developing his first roll of film at the age of ten.

He apprenticed to the fine art Photographer Ron Rosenstock and has worked in many of the leading commercial photo labs in the bay area.

In 1990 he founded Lotuscolor, one of the Bay Area’s premier digital imaging studios.

An early advocate of digital imaging, he has taught Photoshop and related digital photo-graphic subjects at various institutions including the Academy of Art University, S.F. State and The Center for Electronic Arts.

 

 


Meridian Scheduled Class

Class Name:  Fundamentals of Digital Imaging
 
 

What better way to begin a series of classes and seminars on digital imaging, color management and master printing then by focusing on the fundamentals that underlie these fields of study.

This is a short class that will simplify many of the intimidating concepts and terms associated with capturing, storing, editing and printing digital images.

Topics will include;

• The various file formats and their proper use

• Color space and bit depth

• Color profiles- embed, assign, convert

• Resolution, its many names, and how it relates to size and print size

Besides having these terms clearly explained and questions answered, participants will receive a useful glossary of terms.
